15 Jan 2015, by Rev. Fr. Joel Okojie OSA in Events

Our holy Father, Pope Francis has declared this year as the year of the consecrated life. The year as declared by the Pope started on the 30th of November 2014 to February 2nd, 2016. This is the year we as Catholics are to specially appreciate the gift of the Consecrated life and pray for those embracing this life.
In the Archdiocese of Lagos, Nigeria, the inaugural Mass was held today at the Holy Cross Cathedral with the Archbishop, Most Rev. (Dr.)Alfred Adewale Martins, together with the religious working in the Archdiocese.

In his homily he reminded us that the consecrated life is a gift to the Church and exults all to appreciate it and protect it.

God our Father, we thank you for the gift of the consecrated life.
We than you for the men and women that have made themselves available to follow your Son, Jesus Christ, chast, poor and obedient.
During this year of consecrated life we are infinitely grateful for your love, favor and mercy upon them
Renew your Spirit in them
Comfort them in the challenges of their vocation. Endowed them with all the graces needed to work and pray joyfully. Grant them peace as they serve you in their neighbors.
Forgive their inadequacies  and imperfections. enrich them in their poverty, love them in their chastity and lighten their hearts in obedience to you.
Grant them fidelity to the patrimony and the charism of their institutes.
Make them true witnesses of your beloved Son.
May their life teach us make a more loving offering of ourselves to you.
Mary, mother of God, first disciple of Christ, model and patron of every concreted life, pray for us
