Priestley ordination 201526 Jun 2015, by Events in
On the 27th Of December 2014, six of our Augustinian brothers: Imaji Peter O.S.A., Ukabiala Paulinus O.S.A., Oyudo Jude O.S.A., Shekari Jonah O.S.A., Ojiaku Peter O.S.A. and Onuoha Julius O.S.A. were ordained deacons. Today, the 25th day of June, 2015, the Augustinian family in Nigeria rejoices as we celebrate the Priestley ordination of these same brothers of ours. It was at the Church of St. Monica, Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.
Though it was on a working day, the lay faithful gathered from different parts of Nigeria to join the Augustinian family to celebrate this wonderful day. The brothers were ordained Priests by the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos, Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius A. Kaigama. In his homily, the Archbishop reminded the candidates for ordination that they are called to serve, to give without charge since they received without charge. The priesthood is a gift to the Church, it is something we don’t deserve yet we have it. He encouraged them and all Christians to be agents of change, and he quickly added that the change he talked about was not the political change that is becoming a slogan among Nigerians today, but the change of heart that
leads to salvation.
The Prior Provincial of the Augustinian province of St. Augustine of Nigeria, Very Rev. Fr. John Abubakar O.S.A. thanked the Archbishop for honouring his invitation to ordain our brothers and also appreciated the priests, religious and the lay faithful for their collaboration with the Augustinian family.
We are indeed grateful to God for his mercies and pray for these brothers of ours that the anointing they received today May be renewed every morning. We also in a very special way thank all those who in one way or the other helped them to answer the call of God, especially their formators. May God reward them all.
