God in Las Vagas

14 Jan 2015, by Rev. Fr. Joel Okojie OSA in Events

The name Las Vegas attracts negative reactions from most people, it is a city of sin
for them. But my brother Priest celebrated the Christmas and the New Year in this city
and he said;  “In as much as it is a nice place for holidays and relaxation, it has people
who live and work there. The religious presence in this city kept me wondering why this
notion of Vegas”? Though he acknowledged the presence of Casinos especially at the heart
of the city, he however quickly noted that not too far away is the Catholic Cathedral. He visited
the Church of the Shrine of the most Holy Redeemer.

He offered the Holy Mass at Las Vegas. Something good can actually come out of what the
world may considered unredeemable; no matter how bad the world feels you are at the
moment, you are redeemable by Christ Jesus.

When I hear of Las Vegas, what comes to my mind is Sin City. Like the saying; what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
