Galilee day celebration
06 Apr 2015, by Events inThe celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead continues and for ever. Yesterday, Easter Sunday, the whole Church specially celebrated this victory over death. It is a celebration that should continue in the life of every Christian.
Today, Easter Monday, the Church of our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish, Lagos, Nigeria, came together to continue the celebration of the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. We called it Galilee day, a day we join the apostles of Jesus Christ in Faith to meet with the risen Lord. It is a day of joy, a day we specially share the joy of the risen Lord with one another.
The day started with the holy Mass; the people together with their Priests offered the most acceptable sacrifice to the Father for the gift of one another and for the gift of life eternal. The joy of the Lord rested on each and every one present as the Spirit rested on the apostles on Pentecost day. It was in the spirit of this joy we all moved into the multipurpose hall to continue the celebration after the Mass.
In the hall, the social aspect of the celebration kicked off. It was picnic like, each of the over 40 Societies and Associations in the Parish prepared delicious food and brought drinks for this celebration and it was fun all through.
The rich African heritage and Nigerian in particular were on display. The Nigerian drums spoke and the body responded accordingly. Comendians entertained the people.
We pray God to let the joy of this celebration never depart the life of our parishioners and every believer. Amen!
