All Saints day!01 Nov 2016, by Doctrines in
Today, the first day of November, and tomorrow the second day, we greatly celebrate the Catholic Church. Our Church is one, holy and Catholic. Today’s solemnity (all saints) and that of tomorrow (all souls) celebrates not just the mercy of God and the victory many of our brothers and sisters who have gone before us have won in Christ Jesus. Still, it also celebrates the hope you and I have in God. Our celebration of the Church in heaven should lift our hopes in God. If these brothers and sisters of ours made it into heaven with the help of God who never changes, who washes those ready in the blood of the Lamb who is still alive, then with faith in him, our salvation is sure. Our celebration today reminds us of the salvation we have in Christ through faith in him.
We celebrate the saints of God today; we celebrate our oneness as a Church and our faith in Christ Jesus. Some may kick against this traditional faith of the Church, but we are so proud of it. The saints intercede for us before the redeemer’s throne, who alone is the way to the Father. In honouring them, we give God glory, and to him be glory now and forever. Amen!
