A call for re-dedication

The Nigerian flag

The Catholic Church in Nigeria joins every Nigerian to celebrate the nation’s 57th independence anniversary. There may be no much to celebrate today, but our hopes must not be quenched.

On this day, the Catholic Church in Nigeria specially prays and re-dedicate our Country Nigeria to the maternal intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, queen and patroness of Nigeria. We pray this day that the labour of our heroes past may not be in vain.

It is not an exaggeration to say that the natural wealth and peace represented by the green white green colours of our beautiful national flag is fading away, but that was how the couple at Cana in Galilee ran out of wine during there marriage ceremony until Mary the Mother of our Lord interceded.

With faith therfore, the Church in Nigeria calls us today to re-dedicate ourselves and our Country Nigeria to the powerful intercessions of Mary our Mother.

God bless the Catholic Church.
God bless Nigeria.
